And then I shall strip naked and dance on the hillside
in a thunderstorm
until the police arrive and ask me
to desist.
With stone in my eye
and grit in my knuckles
a taste of blood in my mouth
I stagger home to you.
Silver Debuse—poet, critic, apparatchik, gadfly—defends his profile against the assault of the entire world.

New Year Resolution
- What you write should be perfect, should be beautiful, and should be unadulterated by the hands of a filthy editor.
- Only you can judge the quality of your own writing; a rejection letter is a sign of the poor taste of a jealous publisher.
- Write and publish all you can, by any means necessary; the world will recognise genius when it sees it, and history will remember you.
- Be merciless with those who question, compete with, or denigrate you. It is not your place to be charitable or a flatterer.
- Be strong. Courage!
