And then I shall strip naked and dance on the hillside
in a thunderstorm
until the police arrive and ask me
to desist.

With stone in my eye
and grit in my knuckles
a taste of blood in my mouth
I stagger home to you.

New Year Resolution

1. What you write should be perfect, should be beautiful, and should be unadulterated by the hands of a filthy editor.
2. Only you can judge the quality of your own writing; a rejection letter is a sign of the poor taste of a jealous publisher.
3. Write and publish all you can, by any means necessary; the world will recognise genius when it sees it, and history will remember you.
4. Be merciless with those who question, compete with, or denigrate you. It is not your place to be charitable or a flatterer.
5. Be strong. Courage!
